Responsibilities:
1. Coding and Documentation
• Review medical records and other clinical documentation to ensure accurate coding and billing.
• Assign appropriate medical codes and modifiers to patient services and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with coding and documentation requirements for different payer types.
• Work with clinical staff to improve documentation practices and capture all services provided.
2. Patient Billing and Payment
• Generate patient bills and statements and send them to patients and insurance providers.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and coordinate with insurance providers as needed.
• Answer patient questions and provide information on payment options.
• Follow up on patient balances and work with patients to resolve payment issues.
3. Reporting and Analysis
• Analyze claims and payment data to identify trends and issues.
• Prepare and distribute regular reports on billing and payment activity.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Recommend changes to billing and payment processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3-4 years of experience in medical billing or healthcare finance required.
• Additional education or certification in medical billing and coding preferred
. • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing procedures.
• Familiarity with insurance programs and requirements for different payer types
. • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data.
• Proficiency in computer and office software, including electronic medical records systems and billing software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
